Travel - Minneapolis

Since the wife has 4 days off during this Easter long weekend, we decided to make a visit to our neighbouring state and its Twin Cities: Minneapolis/St Paul in Minnesota. To gain some more time we left today (Thursday) late afternoon-evening, and now I am writing this in a room at Country Inn & Suites, Fargo. For those that don’t tavel: Fargo is in North Dakota.

We had a few nice sunny days during this last week but tonight it started to snow.

So, at this moment I am at C on the map. If you zoom in enough, somewhere in between Fargo and St Paul you will find a place called Albertville. I have never heard of it but the ladies are supposed to know about its famous outlet stores. That’s the program for tomorrow…

And later arriving to St. Paul. See you there!

Divided loyalty?

Published in: Our Life — 06.12.2006. - 17:49 |

Since the war in Lebanon the issue of double citizenship became a hot political topic. Simple minded citizens are able to raise only one kind of question: are you loyal to this country or to your “other” country?
I wish it was that simple.
You see, I was born in a country where my citizenship and “ethnicity” […]

Democracy, power and percentage

You can go and see the election results (if you don’t know yet) on the local newspaper’s website. There are also interesting articles, comments and numbers.
Let’s play a little bit with the numbers.
The old/new mayor got 61.6% of the votes. Most people never look further, so the general assumption might be: he will represent 61.6% […]

Manitoba Blogs

Published in: Housekeeping, On the Net — 24.04.2006. - 20:31 |

I was browsing and searching the other day and discovered a nice little list of Manitoba bloggers:
http://manitobablogs.blogspot.com/. It’s not a huge list, but I assume not all the MB bloggers know about it. I had no idea about its existence until a few days ago.
The owner was nice enough to add this Gazette, too.
However, […]

Cold in this Warming

Published in: Our Life — 17.02.2006. - 15:43 |

My local newspaper is trying to scare me: Too late to save Canada’s Arctic? The question mark doesn’t really matter, nobody will remember it after ten minutes - but the text will stick. Subtitle: Global warming damage can’t be reversed: study.
I never really could believe this man inflicted global craziness. Having extensive education in ancient […]

Source: Carol Bentley’s blog. Read about a very elaborate credit card scam when they already have all your data, including your card number… except the little PIN code on the reverse of the card. Don’t fall for this trick!

Source iknownil: He is right. The students are in debt for many years, the government workers are overpaid and they rarely are up to their tasks, the taxes are high. Very high. I even wanted to comment on his blog but I never do that if the stupid “you must be logged in to comment” is in effect. No wonder nobody is commenting on that blog. People don’t like registering just to post a short comment…
